Four checks before downloading

When filenames look similar, confirm the system, processor, and package format before installing. This helps prevent startup problems caused by architecture mismatches, incorrect package formats, or conflicts with older configurations.

    Confirm the operating system

    Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and Linux use different installation methods. Do not choose a file based only on the client name; open the matching platform tab and download from its listed entry.

    Confirm the processor architecture

    AMD64 or x64 is common on Windows and Linux desktops; newer Macs generally use Apple Silicon; mainstream Android devices usually use ARM64. Servers and routers may also use ARMv7 or MIPS.

    Confirm the package format

    Windows installers generally use exe, macOS uses dmg, Android uses apk, and Linux desktops commonly use deb, rpm, and AppImage. Compressed cores must be extracted and run from the command line.

    Back up existing configurations

    Before migrating from an older client, record the subscription URL, override rules, DNS settings, ports, and proxy preferences. Restoring items individually after installing the new client makes troubleshooting easier than overwriting the old directory.

Which Clash client should I download first?
For desktop and mobile platforms, start with Clash Plus for your operating system. Windows and macOS users who want to compare different interfaces and settings layouts can also review Clash Verge Rev and FlClash. Servers, routers, and bypass-router deployments typically use the Mihomo core directly. Check the operating system and architecture first, then consider interface preferences; installing multiple clients is unnecessary.
What is the difference between the Windows installer and portable archive?
The installer follows the standard desktop software workflow, writes to an application directory, and creates system shortcuts, making it suitable for fixed long-term use. The portable archive runs after extraction, while the directory location, shortcuts, and future replacements are managed by the user. Both forms require a valid configuration; portable does not mean configurations can be copied directly between clients, so back up before migrating.
Should I choose Apple Silicon or Intel for macOS?
Open About This Mac from the system menu and check the chip or processor field. Choose Apple Silicon when it shows an Apple M-series name, and Intel when it shows an Intel processor model. A mismatched architecture can prevent the app from starting or require an additional compatibility layer, so confirm the chip before downloading.
How do I choose between ARM64, ARM, and universal Android builds?
Most recent Android phones and tablets use ARM64, so download the ARM64 installer first. Choose ARM for older 32-bit devices. The universal build supports a wider range of architectures and is useful when the device architecture cannot be confirmed, but it is usually larger. x86_64 is mainly for some emulators or specialized devices and is generally unnecessary on regular phones.
Is the Mihomo core suitable for regular desktop users?
Mihomo is a command-line core that requires you to manage configuration files, startup arguments, logs, processes, and traffic-interception rules yourself. It is better suited to servers, routers, bypass routers, and automated deployments. For importing subscriptions, choosing nodes, and toggling the proxy on a regular computer, a GUI client is more direct and makes status and logs easier to inspect.
Why can't I connect immediately after installing a client?
The client runs the core and manages network settings, but the proxy nodes, proxy groups, and rules required for a connection come from a subscription or local configuration. After installation, import and update the configuration, open the proxy page to select a proxy group, and then enable the system proxy. Configure TUN only when broader traffic interception is actually needed and supported by the system.
